What's special about this panel?
The Powerfilm F15-3600 is a 60 Watt folding solar panel, ideally suited to field research, remote work camps, industry, and military applications. It produces 60 Watts of power in full sun, yet folds down to about the size of a small 1" binder. In summer months, you can expect to collect between 120 & 240 Watt-Hours of power, which is enough to run most laptops for 6-12 hours (as an example). Lightweight & very easy to pack, with corner grommets that make it simple to secure.
How do I use this panel?
Direct-Connection to Your Devices
The 60 Watt Powerfilm F15-3600 comes with a standard 12V CLA socket. The same type as in your car, so most devices with car adaptors can be plugged directly into the panel. Note that the output of the panel varies with sunlight, so there are times when the panel may not supply enough power to operate a large device directly. In such cases, use a solar storage battery (see below).
Connect via Solar Storage Battery
Always recommended, the Powerfilm F15-3600 panel can be connected to most 12V solar storage batteries. Doing this allows you to collect the power you generate during the day for use anytime... even at night when most people do their daily device charging duties. See recommended storage battery options below.

A Word About Smart Devices...
The Powerfilm F15-3600 solar panel has enough power to operate or charge most small & medium-sized electronics directly. As devices get smarter, their power requirements become more specific, and often a minimum amount of power is required. If you try connecting such a device to the 60 Watt panel, and the devices will not accept the panel as a power source, we recommend a solar storage battery to collect the power generated by the Powerfilm panel, and deliver the power your devices are asking for...
A good match for the Powerfilm F15-3600 is a battery pack with at least 200 Watt-Hours of storage capacity. The following are commonly used with the Powerfilm 60 Watt panel...
Connect a Battery Charger
Lastly, you will need a charger for your devices that can connect to your solar storage battery (or direct to the panel in a pinch).
Remember that ordinary wall chargers will not work with solar panels since they are wanting 120V AC (not the 12V DC that your panel produces). So, select battery chargers that come with 12V car plugs. For example...
PowerFilm Solar created their folding line of solar panels to address the needs of backpackers, field researchers, and anyone else who needs their solar portable solar panel to be as lightweight and sensitive as possible. If you need a reliable panel to keep batteries & equipment running, Powerfilm panels should be at the top of your list.
Powerfilm are among the most sensitive solar cells available. Powerfilm panels will turn on earlier in the day, and turn off later in the day than rigid silicon panels & most other thin film technologies. Their sensitivity also makes Powerfilm panels the best choice for mountainous regions with variable weather, northern locations where there are plenty of low-intensity daylight hours in the summer, and anywhere you might encounter overcast or partial shade conditions.
