Our hemp products are made from certified organic European hemp (chemical-free), not Chinese hemp (many of which are processed with toxic chemicals & acids). We do not carry clothing made from soy (issues with Genetically Modified Organisms — GMO's — and pesticides and chemical fertilizers), bamboo (issues with chemicals and acids used in the manufacturing process), PET (recycled soda bottles: issues with outgassing and chemicals), or wood fiber (made from new wood, plus acids & chemicals in processing).
Founded in 2000 by Thammarath Jamikorn & Klaus Wallner, Rawganique.com is a human-scale family business that promotes sustainable organic hemp clothing products (as well as organic cotton & linen products) and way of life. We are concerned about the fragile condition of our eco-system and inspired by the works of Scott & Helen Nearing.
In 2004, Rawganique.com became the first & only store in the world to offer hemp clothing, bed, bath, & home products made from certified organic European hemp.
In 2007, Rawganique.com debuted the world's first 100% organic European hemp knit. This cozy, silky, and elegant hemp fabric is currently used in our Eco-Couture hemp dresses, tops, and turtlenecks.
Rawganique.com was created off the grid on a Mac, from clean solar & wind power. (Our co-founders homestead in a small cabin powered solely by the sun & wind and grow most of their own organic produce.)
Our catalogue of hemp products is printed on 100% recycled paper using vegetable ink and non-toxic, water-based coating.

• What's different about Rawganique's hemp products? Our hemp products are made from European hemp that's organically grown without chemicals or pesticides of any kind. In fact, in 2005 Rawganique debuted the world's first hemp clothing and home products made from certified organic European hemp. We only use warm water and mechanical combing to soften our hemp fiber, whereas most Chinese hemp fibers are chemically softened with acids and other toxic substances. Our hemp products are made in USA, Canada, or Europe to ensure sweatshop-free, fair labor conditions. Many China-made hemp products are made under unfair sweatshop labor conditions. We make most of the 1,000+ eco products we carry and so our organic cotton, linen, and hemp products are unique to us.

With soy, there are issues with genetic engineering, chemicals, and pesticides. Tencil is made from fresh wood pulp (not recycled wood) so trees have to be cut down. With bamboo, there are issues with chemical processing to get to soft fiber. Fortunately, we don't need any of these fibers. With organic cotton, linen, and hemp, we can make most clothing and home products that anyone could possibly need.
