Description

When the power goes out, this Emergency Power Kit is the simple way to keep the power on for key appliances around your home. Simple, effective, no fluff.

How It Works

Plug in any household appliances like fridges, freezers, medical equipment, CPAP machines, microwave ovens, lamps, radios, and more. Just like you would plug them into any household power outlet. The system provides up to 1500 Watts of power, so you can run several appliances at once.

Power comes from a deep cycle battery. Like the ones you find in RV, boats, and utility trucks. An inverter converts this battery power into household AC power.

Keep track of your battery charge level with the simple LED colour lights.

How Much Power?

Using a standard Group 31 deep cycle battery will provide up to 1200 Watt-Hours of power (much the same as the Goal Zero Yeti 1250). Useable power is essentially 50% of this, or 600 Watt-Hours.

What does 600 Watt-Hours do for you?

  • a 12W LED lamp for 50 hours,
  • or a transistor radio for over 100 hours,
  • or a CPAP machine for 3-6 nights (depending on settings),
  • or a 16 cuft fridge for up to 6 hours,
  • or a small chest freezer for up to 6 hours,
  • a small 600W microwave oven for 1-hour.

Charging The Emergency Power Kit

The Emergency Power Kit comes with an AC charger, so you can charge it from any outlet in your home (ahead of any emergency of course!). The Kit also comes with a 12V DC car charger, which is very handy in emergency situations (your car can essentially be used as a generator).
It is also easy to add solar charging to this kit if ever you want that ability.

What’s Included

The Emergency Power Kit includes a marine battery storage box pre-wired with a 1500 Watt AC inverter/charger and all safety fusing, wiring, and 12V charger (to charge it from a vehicle too). All you need to do is supply a Group 27 or Group 31 deep cycle battery. Attach the two cables to the battery terminals and you are ready to go.
Here are some sources for these batteries…

Canadian Tire : Group 27 or Group 31 Deep Cycle Batteries
WalMart : Group 27 or Group 31 Deep Cycle Batteries
Or even better… pick one up at any local marine, RV, or automotive parts shop. They might even be nice enough to help you connect it in your kit (if you feel uncomfortable about doing that yourself)

Why do we not include the battery?
These batteries are not light… and therefore are expensive to ship. Sourcing locally is the responsible way to get these parts.

Compare

Here are a few battery packs that provide the same kind of functionality. I’m sure you’ll agree that the Emergency Power Kit offers excellent value. Name brand, high quality components without the packaging.
