Solar charging systems for kayaks, canoes, and anyone who expects to get a bit wet.

The solar power systems on this page favour thinfilm solar panels. Why? They collect more power during ANY given day than any crystalline panel set of the same power rating. How? Because crystalline panels require direct sunlight exposure, and hate fog, cloud, shade, etc. Thin film solar panels are active earlier in the morning & later in the afternoon, & will charge in overcast conditions. Best of all, they are flexible, and great for lashing to kayaks, canoes, and other watercraft. That being said, we do have a few very rugged crystalline panels that offer exceptional efficiency.

Trekking somewhere with questionable weather? The #7 & #14 packages are the ones for you. They won’t care if you are suddenly caught in a downpour. Just keep the battery safe inside your pack, and let the panel get wet. It was designed for foot traffic on boat decks. It can take it.

On a tight budget? Look at the smaller USB-based systems. We have USB charging cradles for most cameras including dSLRs, so there’s not much in the way of mobile electronics that can’t be powered by the sun.
