3:1 MC4 Parallel Branch Connector Specifications

User Notes...

The spec sheet for your solar panel will state what the maximum series fuse rating is for the module. Typically, no more than two parallel strings can be combined without exceeding this series fuse spec. Therefore, when using these 3:1 parallel branch connectors, be advised that you may be exceeding solar module specifications which could result in module damage if there was ever a fault in more than one module. Best practice in such situations is to place inline fuses on each solar panel that are sized to the maximum spec of the solar panel.
We offer MC4 inline fuse holders that use simple, replaceable automotive fuses for such situations when using 36-cell modules with Voc below 36V.
When using standard 60 or 72-cell solar modules, your fuses will need to be rated to 60V or higher. In these cases, using a proper string combiner box ¹ makes the most sense.
