Talon Features…
-
- FASTER
No need to find and drill trusses (you should NOT anyway!). The Talon allows you to secure directly to the roof decking. Now L-Feet can go wherever you want them. Quick and secure. - SECURE
Unique multi-screw connection secures FR-Talon to roof decking. Engineered with pull-out tests that greatly exceed Canadian snow loads and winds.
- FASTER
-
- ENGINEERED
We have full engineering documents to satisfy engineers and building inspectors for most locations in Canada.
- ENGINEERED
-
- WATERPROOF
Each FR-Talon system comes with the engineered Fast-Rack roof bracket, and a heavy gauge anodized aluminum flashing with sealing gasket. The assembled units are water tested.
- WATERPROOF
-
- QUICK INSTALLATION
Simply locate the flashing where you want the L-Foot to land. Screw in 8-10 #10 sheet metal screws (installer supplied). Cover with the FR-Talon flashing and install your L-Foot with a ½” socket.
- QUICK INSTALLATION
You can use any L-Foot you would like. Simply ensure that your rail system L-Feet can work with an M8 Carriage bolt (provided in the Talon kit).
This kind of surface attachment is popular!
While a single lag bolt into inter-rafter blocking provides massive strength, surface attachments like the Talon are much faster to install. As long as your roof decking is in good shape (rotten OSB doesn’t provide much pull-out strength!), then these are a great option.
What if your roof doesn’t feature plywood or OSB decking?
If your roofing is installed on top of 1×4 or 1×6 strapping, then you will have additional challenges. You will need to know exactly where the strapping is so that your Talon plate can hit the target. It is usually better to use a hanger bolt flashing attachment when your roof uses strapping.

What about metal roofs?
The Talon is not suitable for metal roofs. For standing seam metal you will want to use an appropriate seam clamp. For corrugated metal (wave or trapezoid), we have several options available. Consult the ‘Mounts’ section of our shop.
Other surface roof attachments
If you are interested in top-side roof attachment solutions, the Talon is a flashed version of the popular Roof Tech RT-Mini. We also carry the Ironridge HUG, and the Unirac FlashLoc Duo
All are ideal for situations where you have no attic access, or no attic!
