Description
This is the GP-SB-PWM-30-BT. The latest in full-featured PWM charge controller from Go Power / Dometic. This is a state-of-the-art 30A flush-mount solar controller for 12V RV’s, van conversions, boats, and cabins. Bluetooth connectivity means that you can set-up & monitor your solar system from your smartphone too. Supports all battery chemistries including Lithium (LiFePO4).
A solar charge controller is an essential component of your photovoltaic (PV) system. The controller maintains the life of the battery by protecting it from overcharging. When your battery has reached a 100% state of charge, the controller prevents overcharging by limiting the current flowing into the batteries from your solar array.
GP-SB-PWM-30-BT Features:
- Single battery bank support
- Bluetooth ready; used the Go Power! Connect app (Click here for more info)
- 12 volt flush mounted PV charge controller rated for a continuous solar current input of 30 amps.
- Uses pulse width modulation (PWM) technology
- Unique four stage charging system with optional equalize setting, to charge and protect your battery bank
- LCD digital display that shows solar array charge current, system battery voltage and battery capacity
- Connects up to 600 watts of solar
- 5 year warranty

Why go for a PWM controller instead of an MPPT?
Isn’t MPPT better than PWM? Generally, yes, you will get higher energy yield from an MPPT controller under certain conditions, including colder ambient temperatures where solar modules are more efficient and their output voltage is higher. But if you are using only 1-4 solar modules, and they are of the “12V” type (36-cell, 18V output), then in the summertime, you will only see a marginal benefit with MPPT over PWM. And, of course, PWM is a much simpler technology that has been around far longer. Reliability at a lower price, and a built-in display screen. There’s a lot to like!
