This is the PVKit 2.0, a rail-free solar module mount system by S-5!. This is a direct PV attachment system designed to mount on top of your desired roof attachments. The PVKit works with composite asphalt shingle mounts, metal seam clamp attachments, & corrugated metal mounts. S-5!™ makes it easy.

With the S-5-PV Kit and any of the S-5! Mini clamps, installing a leak-free solar assembly is a quick and easy process. The S-5!™ Mini clamps are a handy way to install everything from the PV modules to the electrical chases.

PV Disk (included with PVKIT)
The PV Disk is a structural platform between module frame and the roof footing. Bonding teeth abraide anodization creating a continuous electrical path along module columns. Slotted holes at the edge of the disk act as attachment locations for wire management ties.

General Layout Notes

Metal Roofing : Both Standing Seam & Corrugated/Exposed Fastener
The PVKit is designed to clamp to the long edge of your solar modules, therefore it is best suited to landscape solar module array configurations on metal roofing. Landscape allows the latitude to position the PVKit clamps over standing seams or roofing profiles while also keeping them close to the cantilever attachment points on the solar module frame. Remember that you will need two PVKit clamps on each long side of your solar modules.
Portrait orientation of the modules within the array would not provide at least two clamps on the short side of the module frame.

Composite Asphalt Shingle Roofing
The PVKit can be mounted on top of asphalt shingle mounts, but in order to keep your sanity, we recommend using a roof attachment footing that provides some latitude for position adjustment. Your module frames dictate your attachment alignment, and since your chalk line &/or shingle rows may be straight, you need to be able to adjust by millimeters.
The RTMini 2 is excellent for such purposes.
Another benefit of using an adjustable surface attachment like the RT Mini is that it supports the best practice of NOT targeting rafters. You want to load your roof evenly, and your rafters may wander slightly.
Portrait & landscape module orientations are possible on shingles.
