When it comes to lightweight lithium battery packs designed for use with solar, the Voltaic V72 is our top seller. The V72 features high power USB port, 12V socket, and laptop support via 16V & 19V settings. Pass-through charging means that it can charge itself while it charges your equipment… smart! The low-overhead circuitry, and simplified display saves power, and plays perfectly with the variable power input from solar. The V72 is the battery included inside the Voltaic Fuse 10W & Array Solar Backpacks, and the Generator solar laptop case.

Using the Voltaic V72 with other Branded Solar Panels…

The Voltaic V72 charges well from Powerfilm, P3 Solar, Aspect Solar, Goal Zero, and other popular solar panels in addition to the Voltaic packs and DIY modules. It can also be charged from the included AC charger before you head out.
The input connector on the V72 is a 5.5×2.5mm barrel. If no such output option exists for your panel, using the CLA (car cigarette adaptor) is a good alternative (most portable ’12V’ solar panels offer the CLA socket, and the V72 comes with the male CLA plug for charging from a vehicle)

Useful Tips

Try setting Voltage one lower than your laptop charger’s output first. i.e. if your charger says 19V, try 16V setting on Voltaic battery first. This saves power. The V72 battery will work best with smaller, more efficient laptops Change your power management settings to Maximum Battery Life & Turn off WiFi. Some laptops will run from the Voltaic battery with their internal battery removed. You should turn off your laptop before the Voltaic battery is fully drained to avoid crashes. Remove the cable from your device before changing Voltage between 12, 16 and 19Volts. We recommend storing and charging the battery in a cool place.

Laptop Compatibility Notes

The V72 is compatible with almost every laptop brand & model on the market. The included adaptor tips will fit 90% of models. More are available upon request.

Apple:
Requires optional MagSafe1 or MagSafe2 adapter. Newer, more efficient MacBooks (unibody) are more efficient than older MacBooks.

Dell:
Voltaic’s external battery will not re-charge the battery on some Dell models, but it will run the laptop. This means you should not run your Dell battery completely flat when planning to use an external battery.

Samsung:

Some current Samsung sub-notebooks have a small barrel shaped plug (3.0×1.0mm) which is not offered as part of the Voltaic standard set, please see optional laptop adapters.
